Chanjo Plus

For vaccine officerrs in Nairobi, Chanjo Plus offers better management of immunization records than traditional paper systesms by making records available anywhere, any time. Despite the high availability of vaccines in Kenya, one in five children in Kenya die of disease preventable by vaccination. While the government distributes booklets meant to help families track their children’s vaccinations, many children do not receive the recommended full immunization by age five. Chanjo Plus enables vaccine management through a mobile service. The service sends free, timely vaccination reminder alerts to registered mobile phones of parents and tracks children’s vaccination history, making it easier and more convenient to adhere to immunization schedules. By aggregating data, the service also has the potential to match vaccine supplies to local needs, thereby reducing vaccine wastage.
