For long distance travellers, Gawana offers a car pooling platform which is cost competitive, more comfortable and reliable than public transportation, by connecting passengers to drivers with cars going, to similar destinations. Major cities across East Africa are experiencing large increases in population, but the transportation infrastructure hasn’t developed fast enough to match this growth. With car ownership at 40%, roadways are extremely congested. Those without cars travel between cities via crowded, uncomfortable, and unreliable bus rides. Gawana is a long distance ridesharing mobile platform that enables travelers in East Africa to share long distance journeys and split the cost of fuel. It’s a more comfortable and cost competitive alternative to buses, and car owners traveling long journeys can save on fuel by posting their available seats to the Gawana app.
